The final conference of the International research project "Muscle Stress Relief" takes place at the Department of Physical and Sport Science of the UTH. The “Muscle Stress Relief” programme has been a three-year ongoing clinical research project on the mechanisms of ageing, metabolism, and on the hormonal cross-talk between the muscular system and key organs such as the heart, liver, kidney, and lungs, all of which synergise and have created the epidemic of muscle wasting we are currently facing. In order to uncover more on the mechanisms involved there was an international multidisciplinary coordinated effort with research teams from Europe, South Africa and the USA.

This conference will be taking place in order for all teams to disseminate their final results and discuss their three year journey. The theme is “The effect of chronic conditions on muscle biology and function”.
