PAST MEMBERS AND ALUMNI
ELISAVET EFTYMIOU
Elisabeth Efthymiou is a dietologist. She studied at the Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics at the International Hellenic University in Thessaloniki. She is a past member of the lab and has contributed greatly in the writing of Dr. Karatzaferi’s manual of CPR Training in Education. She is an accredited Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor and instructor trainer and assists in the teaching of the Safe Exercise course.
JANE CARR
Dr. Jane Carre was supervised by Professor Karatzaferi in 2018, at the time when our lab was hosted at Plymouth Marjon University. Dr. Carre's research was funded by the Daphne Jackson Fellowship.
KRASE ARGYRO A.
Dr Argyro Krase is a PE and Sports Science graduate. Dr Krase did her PhD studies with us, focusing on renal patients and actions that could help dialysis efficiency and overall functional capacity. She started the grassroot movement LifeWalkers which aims to mobilise chronic patients and their relatives so they participate in and benefit from exercise programmes. Dr Krase continues her collaboration with us by contributing in ongoing research and educational efforts.
THEOFILIDIS GEORGIOS N.
Dr Theofilidis Georgios currently is a physical education teacher, swimming instructor and part-time researcher. He completed his PhD in 2019 under the tutelage of Dr Karatzaferi, with his thesis titled "ACUTE AND CHONIC EFFECTS OF HIIT EXERCISE ON MUSCLE PERFORMANCE AND FUNCTIONALITY"
POULIANITI KONSTANTINA
Dr Poulianiti Konstantina is a Chemical Engineer who did her PhD studies with us, funded via the MUSCLE FUN project. Dr Poulianiti developed and/or improved an array of redox assessment assays in blood and muscle which were used in her own research and in other projects of our lab. Nowadays Dr Poulianiti works at the Food Science and Nutrition department of UTH and continues her collaboration with our lab in the subject of redox biology.
GRIGORIOU STEFANIA
Grigoriou Stefania is a Clinical Exercise Psychophysiologist and Research Associate at the Greifswald University in Germany. She was a lab member from 2012 to 2016 at which time she completed her PhD studies under Professors Karatzaferi and Sakkas. Her PhD subject was "ASPECTS OF FATIGUE IN CHRONIC DISEASE: EFFECT OF EXERCISE TRAINING IN HEMODIALYSIS PATIENTS".
VARVERI DANAE
Varveri Danae is a freediver with many critical acclaims and a physical education teacher. She completed her PhD studies, titled "THE DEVELOPMENT OF AQUATICITY THROUGH WATER GAME ACTIVITIES IN SCHOOL CHILDREN" in 2016 under the tutelage of Dr Sakkas.
KALTSATOU ANTONIA
Kaltsatou Antonia is a Senior Researcher in Human Physiology & in Clinical Exercise Physiology, FAME Laboratory, University of Thessaly. After completing her PhD she joined our lab for her Postdoctoral Research from 2013 to 2016, which was funded through the MUSCLE FUN Project.
KARIOTI ANGIE
Karioti Angie is currently a clinical researcher at the Medical School of the University of Thessaly. After completing her PhD studies she joined our lab for her Postdoctoral Research from 2013 to 2016. Her research was funded by the MUSCLE FUN Project during her stay at our lab.
MALAVAKI CHRISTINA
Christina Malavaki joined our lab following her PhD studies in order to begin her Postdoctoral Research under the tutelage of Professor Karatzaferi and Dr. Stefanidis. Her work was fully funded by the IKY-SIEMENS Grant.
KALLINOGLOU-STAVROPOULOS A.
Kallinoglou-Stavropoulos was partially supported by our lab for his Postdoctoral training, (with Prof A. Jamurtas as his main supervisor) for his research and contribution to the ebook entitled Manual for the physical assessment of clinical populations.

KALYVA A.
Kalyva A. completed her PhD studies in 2012 under the tutelage of Professor Karatzaferi. Her studies were fully funded by the CERETH Scholarship.
GIANNAKI CHRISTOPHOROS
Christophoros Giannaki is currently a researcher at the University of Nicosia. He completed his PhD studies in 2011 under the joint tutelage of Professors' Karatzaferi and Sakkas.
